Chris King, SEDC Chairman Makes a Statement to German Regulator BNetzA

Chris King, Co-Founder and Chairman of the SEDC makes the following statement to BNetzA at their workship in Bonn on the future of energy in Germany. The statement reads (in German):

“Hallo.  Ich heisse Chris King und bin Vorsitzende des Smart Energy Demand Coalition.  Unsere Mitglieder schliessen Energieversorger, Teilnetzbetreiber, Technologie-Unternehmen, Demand Response Aggregators, und NGOs ein.  Insgesamt, unsere Mitglieder versorgen mehr wie ein hundert Millionen Stromkunden und beschaftigen mehr wie eine Million Menschen. Unser Sitz ist in Brussels.

Ich moechte vier Punkte unterstreichen.  Zuerst glauben wir dass das Teilnehmen in den Maerkten von der Seite der Kunden notwendig ist, um die Ziele der deutschen Energiepolitik zu erreichen.  Dies sogennante Demand Side Management Programme werden es einfacher, billiger, und zuverlaessiger machen, Deutschlands Erneubarenergie Ziele zu erreichen.

Zweitens wuerden wir zustimmen dass das Energiespeichern nicht nur moeglich sondern auch notwendig ist.  Allerdings ist eine wichtige Methode vom Speichern die Waermespeicherung in bestehenden Gebauede; eine Studie fand, dass solches Speichern kann den Hochlast einer Gebaude bis 40 prozent verminder.  Laut der Diskussion von Heute notiere ich, dass solches Speichern natuerlich kurzfristig ist.

Drittens ist es auch notwendig, Energiekunden die Anreize zu geben, um ihren Last zu manage.  Das heisst, dass die Industrie muss ihren Kunden Preissignale von peak und off-peak Energie schicken. Denn in Deutschland kostet die peak Energie wesentlich mehr wie off-peak Energie . Um Preissignale zu geben, braucht es zwar Smart Meters und Smart Grids.  Naturlich soll solche Preise total freiwillig sein.

Letzlich moechten wir darauf hinweisen, wie das Smart Grid mit dem Photovoltaik hilft.  Wenn es in einem Ort zu viel Photovoltaik gibt, kann Instabilitaet mit der Spannung aufstehen.  Laut eine Studie von Navigant Consulting, kann das Smart Grid solche Probleme vermeiden und es moeglich machen, 60 prozent mehr Photovoltaik an das Netz sicherlich anzuschliessen.
